My first published book - and my last for the next twenty-six years. Long out of print, there is a copy available on Amazon - for almost eight times what it cost when it appeared in 1981.
It was inspired by Roger Zelazny's Damnation Alley - the book, not the film. Not to mention probably every action and horror film my then 24-year-old self had seen. It doesn't resemble any of my other published stories at all. But I still like it. A lot.
Many people have asked, and I have always answered the same thing: I really DON'T know what the cover has to do with the story. And I never knew who the illustrator was to ask him. Or her.
